July to November 2025

Inspired by my USC summer camp drawing exercise of visualizing non-tangible elements of architecture, I wanted to continue exploring and sharing the seen and the unseen aspects of space. I photographed spaces that interested me—spaces connecting interior and exterior areas, as well as spaces guiding circulation. Then I sketched the floor plan of each space based on careful observation and understanding. Different colors were used to represent different interpretations and stories within each space.

My annotations represented not only architectural relationships, but also connections with people and nature. Each color mapped a different aspect of the space, including sunlight, sound, wind, circulation, and even waterways. Every component told a unique and intentional story. Through this process, I learned to see familiar environments from a new perspective. I realized that spaces are shaped not just by form, but also by the invisible forces that animate and embrace them.

Wanting to showcase my understanding of these invisible forces, I held an exhibition of my sketches alongside their respective photographs. The exhibition opened on October 28th, presenting my top twenty favorite works. During the five days the exhibition lasted, it was interesting to see my drawings come to life in a physical setting. I printed each piece and taped them to boxes, which I then fixed onto the walls—and I also had to design the exhibition space itself to best support the experience. Sharing my work with friends and family, I enjoyed listening to their various opinions, reflections, and feedback.
