While volunteering for the homeless community in Seoul for the past four years, I’ve noticed many issues faced by both the homeless and the volunteers. Though I’ve spent time trying to help the homeless, I realized I wasn’t doing the same for the volunteers.


With this project, I sought to improve the safety of the volunteers during food distributions. There had been incidents in the past where the instability of the transportation cart had caused boiling water injuries. To prevent this, I designed and custom made a specialized transportation cart that was not only specialized for food distribution, but also had compartments to securely hold the water tanks in place.


This project taught me that design could help anyone as long as the problem was defined. And witnessing my impact on my community, I was motivated to explore different ways I could further benefit my communities.
