Inspired by the work I did at USC summer camp, I created another diagram representing the intangible aspects of a space from my hometown. Similar to the work I did at camp, I selected a space with a column, wanting to further explore the interaction I had with it.
For the diagram, I divided the space into three distinct zones–each with different feelings. Using Illustrator, I added grid lines to evoke the feeling of wrapping around the column. Then, I recreated the 2D drawing in Rhino3D and added depth using extrusions and loftings. The resulting pavilion redefined the qualities of the 2D diagram into a physical architectural space that embodied the relationship between the form and the user.
Designing the pavilion was a process of finding balance between following realistic constraints and curating emotions. This process expanded my awareness of how deliberate and careful design could impact the way people perceive and experience different spaces.
