Competing in the International Bridge Building Contest Korea Regionals, I sought to create the strongest bridge using the least amount of materials. Using basswood sticks, I constructed a Pratt truss for the body of the bridge. Then, I reinforced the structure using arches to allocate the tensile forces into compressive forces.

This project required pure logic and precise calculations. Accordingly, the bridge was a standard linear bridge built for function over form. Despite winning 2nd place, I began to question the true definition of a bridge. This later inspired me to create my own interpretation of a bridge, a bridge that prioritized form over function.
